Hello all!! It has been a while....like over 2 years a while!! My last post was in 2013! I had good intentions with this blog back in the day that I started many years ago! I was going to share with everyone the ins and outs of our lives. Well....it appears that the ins and outs are either not all that exciting or it is very busy!
So here I am doing an update. Why? Well, why not! Honestly, I think I am beyond the idea of sharing our lives with avid readers and now on to attempting to keeping myself accountable. I kind of just woke up and thought, I am going to put up a blog post. My plan is that I am going to do it more as a journal for myself than for others to find entertaining.
Here we go....
It is January 1st. The all the boys are all gone and E is napping on the couch. I am looking around at my house thinking about how every year I create a resolution to be a better x,y, z and I usually last about 5 minutes. I am GREAT at making these awesome plans but I am even better at not following through. My heart is usually in it for a short while but I think what it boils down to is that I am an instant gratification kind of gal. If I clean out one shelf with the idea that it will be donated, then I want to automatically see the entire house decluttered and gone. That is not how it works. I declutter something, get it all ready to go, stick it in a corner trying to determine the day/time I will deliver it to be donated which is actually not for another week or two. By then I have collected a few more items. They go through the same process, then kids go through it or it gets moved to the garage or basement and then I just have a bunch of boxed up junk.
OR I am going to save money. When I save money, I immediately think I should have $1,000 set aside. To my dismay, it is not. I have to work at it, not see it automatically appear.
OR I am going to get into shape. I spend DAYS researching the best exercise program or diet. I then take my savings that I have set aside off to the grocery store (I would hate to take that out of my grocery budget.....) and get the "delicious" items for my lunch. I fanatically work out and eat healthy and drink enough water to fill a small wading pool for a few days. I excitedly hop on the scale to expect to have lost all this weight and BAM I am up a pound.
SO I decide the problem is is that I have gained muscle! How silly of me!! So instead I whip out the tape measure to happily measure my body and see that I have.....WHAT! Nothing has changed!!!
What makes this year different, you ask? Well..... I am not sure. I think my biggest issue is that I need to battle my need for instant gratification. So maybe that is my goal for 2016. To realize good things take time and planning. And maybe not hope for such big extremes. My thought is (this may or may not work) is to sit down at my computer every now and then and just jot down what my goal is and progress to see that I AM doing something. Who knows. It may work or it may not. But at least I am trying. I am hoping that if I journal my thoughts it may encourage me. I find some odd comfort in putting my thoughts into words. (which reminds me, if you do happen to read this, do not judge my grammar and lack of editing. If that kind of thing bothers you, then I would maybe not read this!)
